The British Powerlifting Union and Amateur British Powerlifting Union is owned by Powerlifting Ltd which is the holder of the 2024  Affiliation Certificate. We were founded in 2012 under the World Powerlifting Congress as our governing body.

WPC & AWPC License

This authority gives Dr. Emma Ylitalo- James the sole responsibility to develop and promote Powerlifting in Great Britain. It also gives her the sole authority to organise teams of British athletes to compete in the WPC and AWPC European and and WPC and AWPC World Powerlifting Championships. The license is owned by Emma Ylitalo-James and is leased to the British Powerlifting Union. 

We are honoured to have Great Britain as a member of the World Powerlifting Congress and Amateur World Powerlifting Congress and look forward to having a British Team at  future Championships.
