We are just over a month away from the AWPC World Championships 2026 in Manchester, UK. We are currently at over 450 individual competitors, and over 600 starts, which for AWPC World Championships is monumental. So far we have 15 countries attending from as far away as South Africa and Cameroon and Egypt.
The A/BPU British Full Power Powerlifting Championships we had over 450 individual competitors. The A/BPU British Single Lifts Bench press and Deadlift Championships at the highly prestigious Arnold Sports Festival UK with over 350 individual competitors and over 500 starts. That is around 900 individual competitors qualifying and then competing in the British Powerlifting & Single Lifts Nationals in 2026. It has been an immense year.
All the competitors have to place top 3 at the British Powerlifting and Single Lifts (bench press and deadlift) to make it to the British Team, and with classes with 10 and over lifters, this is no mean feat.
Right now the organisation of the AWPC World Championships hosted by the A/BPU is very much toward the latter stages.
The athletes lists are up on our page https://britishpowerliftingunion.co.uk/competitions/awpc-world-powerlifting-championships-2026/, the paperwork is being printed, the certificates designed, new equipment ordered, and all the “small stuff” taken care of. So yes its busy but we have a lot of excited powerlifters getting ready!
Now we cannot forget the BPU BENCH BASH 2026! This being held as a separate even to the AWPC World Powerlifting Championships. A maximum of 15 RAW and 15 equipped bench pressers fighting it out for a cash prize based on points. This is “evening entertainment” which means spectators can relax with a beer while the lifters battle it out!! Its a bit like white collar boxing in a way, except more exciting.
Anyway, this is going be monumental and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
